Baseball video games

So I recently got MLB 07 the show on Ps2 and it's pretty good.  Here's what I did, I made Lowe and Felix better and made Lowe a starter (I know, he's not going to pitch, but whatever, if he were healthy and a starter, he'd be awesome).  I traded away guillen, washburn, batista, reitsma, vidro, and some mediocre guy, petagine maybe, for Lastings Milledge and Ryan Garko.
Anyways I played the first game on rookie, and won 16 or so to 1.  I know, rookie is too easy, but I hadn't played video game baseball in a while.  The biggest story is that I hit 1 hr with Sexson, 1 with Beltre, and Johjima went 7 for 7 with 5 hrs and 9 rbis (first four hits were hrs).

Anyone else have good stories about video game baseball?

Yeah
I hit 6 homers in a game with Jeff Cirillo in ASB 2002, on All-Star mode.

That was hilarious.

I traded
Ichiro (who wanted 6 years), Washburn, Weaver, Batista, Betancourt, maybe a couple others for Halladay, Wells, Lind, Webb and Tracy in MLB 2k7.

I wouldn't have done it if he'd've agreed to
a reasonable length.

In MVP 2004
I hit 212 HR with Bret Boone during the 2005 season.  Sadly, life did not imitate art (or simulation, or whatever) that season.

I downloaded the demo for MLB 2K7 the other day
and, after really high hopes for this year's installment, I was pretty disappointed. It didn't seem all that different from last year's game. It could just be me, though. I keep wanting every game to be like MVP 05, which was the best baseball game I've ever played. It was as close to perfection as you can get in a baseball sim. But that series was banished to the land of wind and ghosts thanks to the the third-party exclusivity deal MLB and Take2 agreed on. It's EA's own fault, though - they started the whole thing by signing a similar deal with the NFL.

you can't go off the demo
The demo was a 6 month ago build of the game and the final version is a ton better

Do Jose Reyes and David Wright's legs
still look like they comprise 95% of their respective body weight? I know the kids wear their baseball pants baggy these days, but holy crap are those some ugly player models.

I loved MVP more then the next person
but MLB 2K7 is just as fun gameplay wise if not more. The francise and owner mode are lacking (or non existant) but just playing the games is incrediably addicting.

I still play MVP 05. Great game.
I'm about 2 months into the 2009 season with the D-Rays.

Jake Peavy is a freaking monster in this game. Check out his stats. Link

Felix has done pretty well too. 2007=Cy Young.

Look at the jump in K's between 2006 and 2007
Either Virtual Peavy's on HGH, or it was a contract year. I still play MVP, too. I just finished year 4 of my owner mode. Ichiro! broke the all-time hits record again and he also set the modern record for triples with 28. Rick Ankiel was my third starter, Chris Snelling hit .330, and Hee Seop Choi hit 25 homers. Good times.

Damn Hee Seop Choi
I traded for him at the deadline during the 2006 season because I my 1B sucked(Travis Lee) and he hit .326 with 7 homers in the 2nd half, so I gave him a 2 year extension. In the first half of 2007 he tanked, hitting just 211 with 4 homers. So I unloaded him on the Angels along with a few prospects for Ervin Santana(who I have in long relief). He hits .275 for them for the rest of the season. In 2008, he hits .336/.391/.611 with 34 homers for the Halos, while I'm still struggling to find a good bat at 1B(like the real D-Rays).

The same thing happened to me with pitchers
I let Jeff Francis and Scott Kazmir go because they wanted too much money, and they made my rotation too lefty heavy. I signed Jeremy Bonderman for less money, and promoted some of my minor leaguers to take over. Bonderman got hurt by progression (his fastball suddenly clocked in at 93 mph) and the prospects didn't pan out (Thomas Diamond and Adam Loewen both posted ERAs over 5). Meanwhile Jeff Francis won the NL Cy Young award and Scott Kazmir was an all-star. That didn't work out so well. Ankiel saved my rotation, but he tanked in the playoffs. Go figure, it's like the game really knew who he was.

Geebus
and I thought my 98 HR pace with Beltre was crazy.

In Pawapuro 2003
I hit something like 40 home runs in a row with Roberto Petagine in home run derby mode (in Hiroshima stadium).

Then the Mariners signed him in real life and well, you know how that story ended.

Oh yeah!
With some crafty trading, my lineup ended up looking like this:
T. Gwynn
P. Molitor
K. Griffey
E. Martinez
M. McGwire
F. Thomas
L. Walker
B. Bonds
M. Piazza

All the "big circle" guys, plus McGwire (although sometimes we replaced him with Dion Sanders, with his 10 speed). Other stars such as Alex Rodriguez and Juan Gonzalex were left to rot on the bench.
