2007 Commercials Are Out

If you're on the Mariners e-mail list, you just got an e-mail with the 2007 commercial campaign.  Looks like they're sticking with the "My Oh My" slogan from last year.

The last few years' commercials haven't been very good, and this year continues the trend, in my opinion.

The Lopez/Betancourt "Double Play Twins" was a pretty good one, though.

Lopez: What? Too Much?
Beltre: <shakes head>

WOOOOOOO!!!
These are fantastic.  All of 'em.

"Huh?"

I wonder if they got some inspiration for the Felix one from the picture I gave him at FanFest:

Iceberg, right ahead!

I'll admit it
I loled at most of them. I thought they were better than the recent ones. Steadily increasing since the debacle of 2005.

lol
the 2005 commercials were so bad, were they were supposed to be like the home shoping network.

it's tough to put into words how bad those were.

by MFAN on Mar 13, 2007 10:45 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Its not that tough at all
Just say "Scott Spezio wasn't the worst part about watching the 2005 season"

FWIW
I had the ultimate best that's what she said in Rome a few days ago.

Friend: Get me a water with gas
Me: Which one is that?
Friend: I don't know, try shaking it and seeing if it fizzles
Me: //shakes, watches, shrugs
Me: I don't know
Friend: Whatever, gimme
Me: //hands water over
Friend: //pops seal
Friend: Ow. It exploded in my eye
Me: //waits for it...
Me: //waits for it...
Me: //waits for it...
Me: THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!!!

Woooooooooooooo

Something tells me
"Thats what she said" will be the offical Lookout Landing slogan of 2007. Following in 2006 "Fuck Mike Reily in the ear" and "Die in a Fire"

I loved the Ichiro one
"Just a bit outside."

The Yubet-Lopez commercial was good too. The disturbed look on Beltre's face was priceless.

The only one that made me laugh out loud
was "Thinking Man's Game". The rest were okay, but not nearly as good as they could have been. Take for example the Twins spot where Joe Mauer gives a kid his sideburns. Now THAT is a commercial. Heartwarming, yet totally absurd.

I would like to have seen a commercial with Jeff Weaver and Jose Guillen Mario Kart stoned off their asses.

by Slozbury Stouvre on Mar 13, 2007 11:09 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Eh
the only one that made me laugh out loud was the double play twins.

The thing about Thinking is that they already did that one in 1997 and it was SO MUCH FUNNIER then.

Holy crap I had no idea they've been doing
commercials for that long. Now I'm gonna have to watch them all.

Though the "Lou the Therapist" one for 1994 was pretty funny.

that was of the funniest ever
and man, seeing young Jr in a commercial makes me sad.

Richie Sexson
Is not in any of the commercials. Does that mean he is the most likely player to be traded?

by bluemax on Mar 14, 2007 1:40 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

He's in the Rosin bag one.
But I wish you were right.  I also wish Rene Rivera wasn't in a commercial.

Huh.
Every time I try to watch one of the commercials, it crashes my Firefox. I remember the same thing happening last year. Any ideas?
That's a right kerfuffle!

But IE Tab is your friend there.

along.

I have the IE tab
and I tried to use it. Same result.

by Phildopip on Mar 14, 2007 11:06 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hmm.
I actually don't really like the latest version of FireFox.  It crashes on me all the time.  At home, the videos wouldn't play intermittently on FF, so I clicked the little icon to change it to IE mode.  Then the videos played.

Try Opera. :-)  Or get a Mac :-)

Iceberg, right ahead!

by PositivePaul on Mar 14, 2007 11:14 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Opera didn't work for me with the videos
Just break down and use IE7.  I swear its not the devil.

by Edgar for Pres on Mar 14, 2007 11:24 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't want to download and install
Service Pack 2. Therefore, I can't use IE7.
That's a right kerfuffle!

by Phildopip on Mar 14, 2007 11:36 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep.
I actually sorta like IE7.

But I still use FF most of the time, even with its constant crashing...

Iceberg, right ahead!

by PositivePaul on Mar 14, 2007 11:55 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I know...
it feels bad but it feels so right.  I don't really even try to convince people to download Opera (what I use) or FF anymore.  I just tell them to download IE7.

by Edgar for Pres on Mar 14, 2007 12:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

FF must not like you.
I haven't had 1 crash since upgrading to 2.0

I suspect...
It may actually be a Java thing on my home PC.  It only tends to crash when I load a page with big Java applets...
Iceberg, right ahead!

Opera can't run MLB clips
That's the only reason IE7 is on my computer.

by Graham on Mar 14, 2007 11:41 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It worked ok in Firefox
on my Mac. Launches Quicktime a little goofily though.

I can try on my PC just to double check.

by bluemax on Mar 14, 2007 11:58 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Works fine
in the Windows version of FF 2.0.2 for me as well. Do you have any conflicting extensions?

by bluemax on Mar 14, 2007 12:00 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think so.
Here are the extensions I have loaded:
  1. Adblock Plus
  2. Download Statusbar
  3. Firefox Showcase
  4. Fission (progress bar in the address bar)
  5. Gmail Space
  6. Google Reader Notifier
  7. IE Tab
  8. Searchbar Autoresizer
  9. Tab Effect
  10. Tab Mix Plus
I can't see anything in those that would give me problems. Bleah.
That's a right kerfuffle!

by Phildopip on Mar 14, 2007 1:05 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hmm
Yeah I don't see anything in that list that could potentially be a problem, at least based on my experience.

I wish I knew what to tell you.

by bluemax on Mar 14, 2007 7:00 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't like Firefox
And since I dislike it and IE7 equally, I'm indifferent as to which one I use for MLBtv
