Mariners manager John McLaren covered a lot of ground during a lengthy session with reporters Wednesday at the winter meetings, but nothing raised eyebrows more than his expectations for Richie Sexson.

"I look for Richie to hit 40 home runs," McLaren said of his first baseman, who batted .205 with 21 homers in 2007. "There's nothing physically wrong with Richie. I think he's 100 percent, and I want him to feel good about himself."
