Ichiro wins another meaningless but cool award

This time it's the Silver Slugger Award. I'm kind of surprised that he beat out Torii Hunter, but hey, I'll take whatever positive Mariners press we can get.

Also, the NL Silver Slugger for pitchers (won this year by Micah Owings, obviously) has got to be the coolest and most meaningless award ever.

You look at the numbers
and I don't really know what to do with defensive value but Ichiro is worth 22.1 RAA vs Hunter's 17.7 (Baseball Ref).  Its close but I think they might have gotten this one right.

And Ichiro beat him in THT's Runs Created (both gross and on a per-PA basis).
