Sorry about the link but I'm not sure how to make it all neat...

But seriously, check out his answer to the first question. If our guys could talk confidently about half of those statistic values I would be amazed.

Advanced statistics? check.

Recognizing the importance of young talent vs. huge FA signings? check. (In all fairness, Bavasi has helped rebuild our farm system...)

Creative trades? check.

Obviously these are just words as of now, but I get the feeling that if we had this type of guy (cough, Chris Antonetti), we would be vastly improved in an instant... or at least an offseason.

Not to be a downer or anything

but a lot of GMs can say all the right things and still do a poor job of making the actions reflect their words.

But that being said, I'd probably have an orgasm if just once I heard a Mariners GM say anything remotely like what Huntington did.

while that's true

that new GM's tend to say what the fans want to hear at the beginning, but this plan is a lot more managable and seemingly achievable.

While Bavasi says, "we're going to land these 5 big free agents because I like their names, they're veterans, etc" (or something of the sort), he's saying that they're going to look at what the player has actual done and is projected to do.

That's how you build a championship organization.
