Lincecum Available?

Is this for real?

Star-divide

...if this is true, who WOULDN'T you trade for him?   Great contract, why in the world would they move their best young arm?

Screw the Matrix...
We're solving the infinite loop, divide by zero equation.

And the chicken came first.  It was made from the rib of a dinosaur.

When that first chicken was eventually eaten
what did the eater think that it tasted like?

when will this thread stop?
it could be now, it could be in a million years, THERE'S NO WAY TO TELL!

Which one
The good artsy one or the overblown summer blockbuster one?

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:52 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Ichiro and Felix.
That is all.

I wouldn't mind something like this:

Jones + Lopez + Sexson
for
Lincecum + Durham.

I wonder if it would be funny or mean
to create another diary focused on trading for TinyTim that links to the previous diary and this diary on Lincecum and cites them as sources?

Don't know if it'd be funny or mean
but you just described about 75% of internet journalism.

From the article
After giving up three of its top five pitching prospects in July of 2006 to acquire Livan Hernandez from Arizona, and then shelling out a two-year, $26 million deal to get Randy Johnson -- bad back and all -- to return, Arizona finds itself searching for rotation help. Hernandez is now a free agent and Johnson, who will be 44 next year if he pitches, is coming off three back operations, including two in the last year.

So Arizona gave up 3 of its top prospects to Arizona to acquire Livan Hernandez from Arizona.

The only rumours about Lincecum floating around have been from this pathetically bad Ringolsby article.

Also, given the market for starting pitching, nothing short of AJ or Ichiro is going to get the deal done. AJ alone, or Ichiro alone wouldn't be enough. There are many teams that can beat or match an offer of AJ alone.

The piece is terrible.
It's random thoughts mashed together to make a story.

Who is Ritchie Sexson?

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:51 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

No chance the M's could get him
It would take a bat we don't have. I have to assume they have their eye on Miguel Cabrera or someone on that level.

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:52 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Well,
for the right price, I think the Giants would trade him. I think they've made that known. The problem is, of course, it's a REALLY high price.

If you're the Giants, you obviously have a stronger rotation than you do a lineup, so it might be in your interest to see what you can get for Lincecum. But it's gotta be a hell of a bat.

I'm just playing devil's advocate, though. I don't see this happening.

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:53 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

These "rumors" are so laughably bad
that it's not even worth discussing. It's a non story.

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:54 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Hmmm.
Of course, you're assuming that the same organization that passed over him at draft time, when he was available for free, would be willing to cough up assets to get him.

Nothing to see here.

Move along...

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:54 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

I hope you mean at the price he would command
because not wanting Lincecum is wrong.

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:55 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I rather have Felix and Jones over Linecum
And that is what it seems like it would come down to.

by Robert on Nov 6, 2007 9:56 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Well
Felix and Jones are probably PART of what I'd come down to.  I imagine they might ask for Triunfel too.  Except it's the Giants, so you never know, I guess it could come down to Sexson and Washburn.  In which case Bavasi needs to immediately ask where to sign.  And if he did ever get offered that, and didn't sign, then he needs to move to Antarctica pronto before any M's fans find him.

Paul, usually, mean is "bedeuten" but not in this context. Aren't you a German major? Or is that your subtle humor?

Heh.
Yup.  I was a German major -- graduated 10 years ago.  Haven't really used German much since.  Like, say, 5 times.

Needless to say, aber mein deutsch ist sehr rostig!

I'd trade HoRam for Lincecum in a heart beat
Bavasi needs to get this done.  I'd even throw in Sexson.

Sorry if it's old news...
or matrix-y.

I did the right thing, I thought by using the "Search" feature on LL to be sure I wasn't posting old news (search for Lincecum).  The last piece I saw was months ago.

If I did, then I apologize.

Don't apologize
just vet your source material better.  For example, stories containing phrases like "This rumor was floated by" and "he probably heard this from" probably shouldn't be given a lot of weight.

Also, anything in any column, anywhere, with the word "mailbag" in the title is almost sure to contain nothing of use to anybody.
