Field Gulls Football--Roll Call!

So here's the plan:

TOMORROW, NOVEMBER 11: 1PM (1:30ish probably) at Green Lake Playfield (east of the lake)

After football we're going to go up to 65th and Phinney to get some Red Mill Burgers.

And after that, we're going to either:

A) Attempt to find a sports bar where all of us (under 21 included) can watch Sunday Night Football)

or

B) The Kids go home, you big adults go watch football in a real bar.

So far we have...:

Bretticus
johnbai
katal
wwbaker3
Matthew
Christian + a friend
possibly marinerschas2
possibly Coach (Seriously Coach, we won't hurt ya, I promise!)
possibly Gomez

That's it?!
C'mon LL'ers/FG'ers!  We can do better than this!  Pathetic!  At this rate, we're barely going to have enough field 2 teams, much less an offensive line on each team!

As it is right now
We can have two 3-man teams and an all-time qb. Boo. I want, nay demand, more people.

by Katal LM on Nov 10, 2007 4:43 PM PST reply actions

And since I'm overcoming an ankle injury
I can't run terribly fast, nor cut. So I'm mostly useless in coverage, and limited to QB, TE or offensive line on offense.

Can't do it, sorry.
Got tons of homework to do.

Whoa
holy crap.

I didn't even notice that. I thought that was you the whole time

Look Coach
You're what...a sophomore in high school?

You don't have tons of homework to do.

And if you go, I promise I'll DO YOUR HOMEWORK FOR YOU

eh
I can BS some hippie bullshit.

Besides, if a sophomore in high school is doing Poly Sci shit then he's going to a nerd school.

You can't do it on Monday?

Well, I have a paper due
and a huge test in AP Euro on Tuesday, plus the Seahawks game is on so I doubt it.

The Seahawks game starts at, what 6?
Then you have about 3 hours after that. Maybe my high school homework approach is different than yours.

Yeah
fuck, if the game is over at 9 then it's only 9.

COACH IT IS GOOD COLLEGE PREPARATION TO START DOING HOmEWORK AT LIKE 11 PM.

Just consider it that you're breaking it in.

For instance: I'm drunk and writing a Biology paper worth 1/3 of my grade. I'm not even worried.

So is high school.

Any non-thesis paper should never take
more than a day. Do it on Monday.

It's Armistice Day. Honor your country's soldiers by playing your country's sport. Do you think that if England, Germany, or the south had won, we'd still have football as we know it today? I think not.

If you really want to we'll talk Europe after the game. I'm a history/poli sci major, and I'm sure at least one other person that's going to be there is a nerd in the subject too.

It's 4:38am and I'm still drunk as a lord. I'm going to play AWESOME today.

by Katal LM on Nov 11, 2007 4:39 AM PST up reply actions

Now that's a good point
My entire high school career was made up of doing homework the day it was due, either between class, during class, or at lunch.

And look where i ended up, at a prestigious liberal arts school surrounded by a bunch off goddamn hippies who like to recycle.. And I'm not some smart pumpkin. A bit drunk, but certainly not smart,

Me too
With the exception of essays and homework I did during class, I did not do homework for my last 2 1/2 years of high school.

Sorry lads
Wish I lived up in Seattle.  It sounds like fun, but it's just a bit too far for me to go.

Plus my parents get upset when I come up to Seattle and don't stop to see them.  Ugh.

Nice to see mulitple sports opportunities popping up though, keep it up guys.  Someday I'll stop talking about it and come and play.

Dude
My parents freaked out the same way a couple years ago when I flew out here by myself to visit UPS and told them i was going to get a ride with PositivePaul back from the airport.

They were like "WTF?!??!?! YOURE JUMPING IN a CAR WITH SOMEBODY YOUVE NEVER mET FORM THE INTERNET!?!?!?!"

and I said...yeah...He seems like a real person, just trust my judgement.

And they said " NO YOURE TAKING THE BUS"
and I said "No, I'm going to ride back with PositivePaul and then we're going to the Rainiers game"

and they sadi something like "OH MY GOD WE CAN'T LET YOU GO"

but then I just said "believe me, it's Ok"
and then I went.

And you're going to be meeting all these crazy cats in a public place. Remind them of that. It's a public place so there will be other people around and you can bail if necessary.

by Corco on Nov 11, 2007 12:08 AM PST up reply actions

Oh
and as I suspected Positive Paul wasn't some crazy stalker rapist and everything is OK

Also
tell your parents it's just like regular society. You never hear about the thousands of times people have met each other from the internet and everything has been OK.

It's just like CNN never talks about all the people who have met strangers in person and all has turned out fine.

It's like .1% of cases that turn out bad, and just trust me, these people are about as safe as you can get.

by Corco on Nov 11, 2007 12:15 AM PST up reply actions

I had to drive 100 miles
and fly 400

to ride in a car with a stranger.

You can step it up.

this looks way more like LL Football
from the rollcall.

But seriously, 6 people? Not sure we can have any sort of game with just 6.

by Matthew on Nov 11, 2007 9:09 AM PST reply actions

yeah,
it makes the decision on driving 40 miles up there kinda hard

by marinerschas2 on Nov 11, 2007 10:21 AM PST up reply actions

I'd argue
that you're just contributing to the problem then

by Corco on Nov 11, 2007 10:23 AM PST up reply actions

well, maybe I'll make it easier
I'm going to back out. Big props to Brett and John for their efforts, but it just doesn't look like we can get a big enough crowd and my schedule was already a little tight today. Lets see if we can't get 10+ people next time, that would make it loads more fun. Though I'm always down for Red Mill Brett.

by Matthew on Nov 11, 2007 10:27 AM PST up reply actions

Not a bad call
I woke up with pain in my neck, but I was gonna tough it out.  However, with only 5 people at this point, it may be best to reload and pick a better time for everybody.

by Gomez on Nov 11, 2007 10:36 AM PST up reply actions

yeah
and with more time, i could probably get a person or 2 to play.

i was gonna offer corco a ride though

by marinerschas2 on Nov 11, 2007 10:49 AM PST up reply actions

Corco isn't going for lack of car
(although he would have taken you up on this),

he's going because he just is not capable of playing football

by Corco on Nov 11, 2007 10:56 AM PST up reply actions

So....
Are we playing or not?

Absolutely
Right now it looks lke we have five definites, along with a handful of people who have said maybe. I figure if we can get six or seven people, we're good for at least a small game.

Ok, good
b/c I'm totally looking forward to it

I will
I have a pretty good one that I can bring

and we can always just play catch if we honestly can't play a game. And at least it's not raining!
