O'Flaherty up, Dobbs down.

USSMariner has the specifics:

Now that we have a 13-man pitching staff, the Mariners' strategy is clear: stockpile so many bullpen arms that you obviate the need for a starter. Joel Pinata will head to the mound, tip his hat to the crowd, and immediately depart for the bench, to be replaced by a reliever.

Guess
Snelling will be activated and a pitcher will get sent down after today's game.  Grover is desperate to find a reason to send anyone other than Pinata or Mateo away so he is hoping for Sean Green or somebody young to suck so he can send that person away instead.

Probably ...
whoever he brings in to pitch today gets sent down. If Meche goes 8 and JJ comes in for the 9th, then maybe (and only a big maybe) Pineiro gets DFA'd.

Expect O'Flaherty to get a couple innings tonight and a quick trip back to Tacoma tomorrow so Grover can keep his "fresh" arms.

LOL a Bibens-Dirkx-like appearance
That sounds plausible.

Another distinct possibility is that Soriano, who is still complaining of shoulder soreness and struggles currently to hit 92 with his fastball, goes to the DL when Snelling is added.

One question...
why has it taken so long to "reactivate" Snelling?  I know he might not be tearing it up in AAA, but you figure 15 days is 15 days.  It has been almost 20.  Not a huge difference, but a little.

There are about
18 of the 25 that could be considered

Allegedly
Bavasi was ready to send down Pinata rightnow, but Grover and Chaves raised absolute hell and Bavasi had to nix it.

As we saw with Petagine, GS52 and Jones, a player is only as useful as Hargrove's willingness to use him.

If thats true
And I were Bavasi, I'd be telling Hargrove to pack his bags. It is hard for me to believe that Bavasi would put up with that.

Gomez...
You are getting that info from M's Geek on sportspot are you?

I am pretty sure he was goofing on the situation.
