Raniers vs. Beavers 7/13

In the first inning Rob Johnson walked, was balked to second, tagged on a Doyle fly ball to center, and was hit  in by LaHair (the man is HUGE).  Clement also singled.

Not really a fact, but pretty cool

Hat Trick
for Choo. Damn lefties.

Notice
that Snelling is playing. The speculation (dreaming?) that has been floating around that maybe Everett would be DFA'd or traded and Snelling activated to clear that last 40-man roster spot is probably not going to happen.

Notice also that Justin Leone is NOT playing for Portland. The Padres mid-term report card highlighted Vinnie Castilla as a major disappointment for the first half. Maybe they will finally replace Castilla with Leone.

Conjecture, all pure conjecture, but something to consider.

I really hope so
just so Justin can stick it in everyones face that he can play

Yeah....
these guys are truly abysmal.

They said that Choo is a good hitter vs. Lefties.

Turn the TV Sound Down
and listen to Mike Curto on the radio. He's great. In fact, "Free Mike Curto!" Bring him up to the major leagues!

One thing to notice....
look at the size of the Portland players...

McAnulty
Knott
Cust

They also have a catcher that is a big guy who isn't playing right now.

Coicedence that their swollen roster contains Manny Alexander and Jack Cust?

Man...
Choo is having a brutal game...

3Ks...
Botched pop-up
unexplainably bad route on a gapper.

Well
This game turned ugly.

That's game.
Nice to see a Rainiers game on TV, though.

Jimenez wasn't that bad
...but I guess that's how it goes for a 'pitch to contact' guy:  IF pop-up utterly botched by Castro, then another pop-up messed up by choo, and pretty soon, you're looking at a big inning.
He pitched almost as well as he had during his string of great games, but the marginal difference in command and his team's defensive effort cost him big time.

Clement looks kind of good, in that his swing is compact, fast and powerful, but it was odd that he swung in the same place on 3 very different pitches in the 8th or whatever.   Ugly K, but you can tell he's got the tools.
