Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

Holy cats!

The Pirates are on a pace to lose 127 games. 127! Wow. That's almost unfathomable.

You've gotta figure that no team can play that badly for an entire season. So which team do you figure will be the worst come October? Judging by team stats, three teams are in the running for the title of worst in baseball: Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and San Diego. Place your bets!

Grrr
I have no clue why the Pirates are doing so poorly.  They're not supposed to be THIS awful a team.  It's confusing the hell out of me.  I was just at PNC Park for a few games last week, and they lost a bunch of really close games (like 2-1, etc)

They'll pick it up
Their young pitching has been shaky to start the season, but it seems Duke is coming around.  Snell and Maholm (if they stay in the rotation) should only get better.  At least they've been hitting a bunch of home runs.  And, not to say anything good about Sean Casey's frightening injury, but keeping Craig Wilson in the lineup every day will pay dividends.

Except Wilson is playing way over his head...
and they're still losing.

The Pirates are better than the Royals
The Pirates have talent.  They're not too good of a team, but they have studs whose performances should win them more games.  The Royals have David DeJesus, some grade C free agent signings, and their best pitcher went nuts and AWOL, in order.

Pedantry corner
Greinke didn't go AWOL, he had permission to leave the team.

Go easy on the kid.  He's a 22 year old kid with obvious, serious emotional issues, the very least of which was his unwillingness to throw a ball at a target.

Nice Guys Finish Third - Hopelessly lost, but makin' good time.

Fair enough
That's the first I've heard about Greinke since his sudden departure.  Hopefully he sorts things out and is fine... though, to drift from that topic, the Royals still have far fewer options than the Pirates.
