Future Deals?

Here's another thought. Some have postulated that there is ample time to make deals until Spring training. I believe that plan ignores the context of our current situation.

National writers are openly saying that Bavasi is in over his head. They have cited comments from other MLB organizations expressing wonder at how Seattle could pull the trigger on this trade.

That being the case, and putting yourself in the shoes of another organization, do you think you would offer a lot of value to Seattle in trade talks from here on out? Bill Bavasi has established an "easement" for his future dealings.

In my view, he will never again go up against another GM who believes he has to offer full value to get a deal done. I've given Bavasi plenty of slack in the past due to our relative perspectives, but I don't feel that he can remove this anchor from his neck in time to reach the surface. Ownership would be well advised to consider replacing Bavasi before the New Year.
