Everyday Eddie and the agent's lie.

http://www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/pro/reds/2006/12/04/ddn120506reds.html

Sorry, please shorten the link as I don't know the scripts, and seldom post diaries here.

The article refers to special assistant Barton Jr. taking his shots at Krivsky as he leaves the Reds after 38 years of service.

"Barton said when the Reds were ready to acquire pitcher Eddie Guardado from Seattle, a scout told him Guardado had a bad arm that could blow any time, "But Wayne said he had talked to his agent and was told Guardado just had a bad back and his arm was OK."
Some other interesting things in the brief article.  Brings to light that GM's can be impulsive- especially when they feel the pressure to win.

What Krivsky meant was
"I've talked to his agent and he says that getting Travis Chick out of my organization is worth it, bad arm or good."

Heh
And supposedly Krivsky wants to sue the Nats for trading him an injured Gary Majewski as well.

Maybe it's just me, but isn't this why you're supposed to have your team doctors check out these guys?

Then there's this tidbit
"I told him I didn't like the deal and asked who was going to play shortstop next year, and he (Krivsky) told me, 'I'm not worried about next year.' "

Yeah, talk about ignorance.

That's not ignorance...
That's a win now scenario.

And I wish the M's would have some of it.

Yeah
we should definitely aspire to imitate the Reds.

I'm confused as to . . ..
how  "Kearns, and a 25-year-old All-Star shortstop (Lopez) for an old shortstop (Clayton) and a couple of pitchers" is a win now move.

Yeah
Because it worked when we had Pat Gillick- oh.

Anybody
could tell you that Eddie's arm was about to fall off... it didn't have to be a Major League Scout.

SO...
....why did Bavasi get so much grief from folks who said he didn't get enough for him? ('Cause that condition didn't suddenly crop up in 2006, you know...)
