Andy Pettitte?

So, long time lurker here, just thought I'd ask an opinion about Andy Pettitte, seeing how he filed for free agency, and not much seems to be talked about him.  He did pitch quite decently last year after undergoing elbow surgery, pitching over 200 innings and posting a xFIP of 3.82.  His price might be considerably lower then what he could get because of the health questions, so he might be somebody worth gambling on.

Thoughts?

Well, he's better than Schmidt.
The Mariners would have to look long and hard at whether or not Pettitte's heart would be into it before they even think about making a move, though. I'm spooked by the retirement talk. Not that it really matters, because Seattle isn't on his radar screen.

Yep.
Pettite was the first guy I pondered long and hard over for my rosterbation diary and blog thread.  As big of a stretch as Maddux was, I saw Pettite as an even bigger one.  Like, say, possibly even a bigger stretch than adding Dice-K...
Are we there yet?

I'd like to have him on a short deal.
But it's just not going to happen. He's either gonna resign with the Stros, sign with the Yanks, or retire.

Yeah
I just dont see any motivation for him to come here. But he would be nice on a short deal

Like Rocket, he wants to stay in Texas
If he doesn't retire, he'll resign with Houston.

If he wants to retire at some point
sign him to a long, expensive deal and hope he retires halfway through it!
