Yung Chi Chen tearing it up..
Chen is playing for the Taiwan national team in the IBAF tournement and now the Doha Asian games baseball tournement.
he's been on fire in both, in the IBAF (where Taiwan finished 3rd , Cuba again dominates .) he hit a line of .472/.537/.694 in 41 PA, and today in the first game of the Asian games he went 2 for 4 with 2 homers, giving Taiwan the first run and also the winning run against their biggest competition in this tournement, the 3 time defending champion Korea.
He made good strides this year in the minors, ripping apart A+ then did well in AA. if his glove could end up being good enough for a everyday 2B he could be a pretty useful player. but with his spots blocked in both AAA and the majors. one wonder where his future is headed.

I'm guessing it's because
a. Chen doesn't have the best raw tools ever. he's above average in almost all catagories but doesn't really stand out anywhere, although he has translated the tools to real skills. something a lot of the other toolsy prospect doesn't do.
b. the biggest knock is probably his defense, his bat could make him a decent everday 2B, but the question is wether his glove could. most people feel his probably stretching it at 2B and would be a better 3B, and as a 3B he would be David Bell like maybe (not really THAT bad of a hitter but gets flamed beause hits too little for the position)
We shall see how it pans out, Chen's glove looks fine to me on the rare occasions i do see him, though he does occasionally mess up some plays, most of them aren't exactly related to abiltiy though, more of the messing up routine plays due to lack of concintration thing.
I think the most comparable MLB players i see right now may be Mark Derosa. live pop, plays multiple postion but not anything particularly well. vary between a good bench and decent starter. though he might improve a bit more. we shall see.
