Geoff Baker on the King's home life

Here.

I hate Geoff Baker for the "White Jays" hatchet job he did while he was in Toronto, but this is really interesting.  It starts with "The noon sun belts out high heat as a bleary-eyed Felix Hernandez drags himself from his bedroom", and only gets better.

300 character minimum quote: "But nothing is formally a being unless it has quiddity; nor is it knowable" (John Duns Scotus, Metaphysics VII, q.7, #22)

Snack time...
Everything his mom says is either a riot or an eye-opener, and the pictures make the atmosphere easy to imagine.
Just for health's sake, someone has to get Mariella and Mia up to Seattle so that Felix can replace spaghetti and beans with his preferred daily snacks of meat and vegetable arepas, just like Ichiro gets his daily fix of homemade nigiri.

I'd have felt better had I not read that....
If he keeps it up with the beans spaghetti and beer, we'll be calling him "Fernando" or "Eddie JR.".

Oh well...I'll just keep pretending that he eats well, and keeps up with his workout program....I just hope he doesn't get brave, go out for beers, pop off to someone, and get killed....that would be a bad day for us.

Probably won't, fortunately
It appears from the article that they're getting a new nicer home in Valencia in December.  Thr article mentions the nicer neighborhoods being gated and secured.

It'll eventually occur to the entire Hernandez family that they are swimming in money and their home's a dump, and they'll move on.

If it were up to me
Felix would spend his offseason in a plastic bubble deep within Fort Knox, forced to watch video of himself giving up fastball home runs.

He would also get a Nintendo Wii, for entertainment and for exercise.

I dunno man
Those things are brutal on the elbow and the shoulder. I think I need TJ surgery after playing all week.

oh man
"All I do all day is sleep and watch TV," Hernandez says with a shrug and a grin. "I don't even want to think about baseball. Sleeping and watching TV. That's what I want to do."

Not encouraging.

Seriously.
How about we chase the rooster around the yard some, eh?

First thing is...
that he become the king rooster and has his parents stay at his place. I can understand his attachment to the family home (I still like my folk's place after having left there for 35 years), but the slouching don't fly. I just hope his new home is big enough for adults to cohabit in peace and daily workouts.

SRSLY
Get the kid involved.  FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.

This isn't that big of a deal IMO
He acts just as lazy as I would for the first few months of the offseason. Big deal. It's not like he's slacking off all the way till spring training.

I'm a little surprised to hear he already has a kid though. But thats probably all the more reason to get off his back and let him do what he wants for the first few months.

Aici zace un om despre care nu se ştie prea mult.

Like, OMG...
No autograph seekers trailing Hernandez when he walks his two dogs, a pit bull terrier named "Oriole" and a feisty, fist-sized shitsu dubbed "King."

He's got a Shit-zu named "King?"

And a pit bull named "Oriole?"

I was worried about Felix before.  Now I'm about ready to start panicking...

Felix has a lot to prove before I'll ever call him King.

Are we there yet?

He's my age
And nobody seems to have a problem with me ignoring my degree completely during summer...

I'm sure he'll grow up eventually.
