Hargroves mid season replacement...

May very well be coaching double A ball for the M's:  http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/mariners/2003425062_mari14.html

We all want him gone and Bavasi will have to do something to save his own ass.  This guy could have the savy and the skills to do it.  Let's face it, hitching your wagon to a mule like Hargrove will leave you on the side of the road before too long.

While Rodriguez has a decent resume
The likelihood that Hargrove gets canned midseason is about as likely as Jason Schmidt signing a two year, $10 million contract.

I disagree...
If the M's fail to produce and the seats are empty by the all-star break, something will have to be done.

What indications do you have
that the M's would be willing to make that change? Have they ever illustrated that sort of reaction or course of action under the current regime?

No they haven't
I've been a fan since 1978 and I can't remember them doing any such thing.

Lets face it:  If there are no butts in the seats because the team sucks, something will have to be done.  They are coming up on Ichiro becoming a free agent, new media contracts and a loss in revenue and poor attendance does not put them in a position to do anything positive on either front, furthering the downward spiral.

Yeah, they did
Both Lincoln and Bavasi both explicitly mentioned that their heads were on the chopping block next year.  I am positive that this extends to Grover as well.

If the M's are not close by the all-star break, I would bet money that Grover is canned.

But the replacement will almost definitely be McLaren.  He is more than capable of filling in as an interim coach, and is a viable candiate of being the skipper for the long-term afterwards.

Bad sign
After writing that post above, I was suprised that I find myself sorta hoping the M's do tank, just to bring in some new blood.

Mainly Bavasi.
