8/24: Open Game Thread

First Pitch: 5:05pm PDT

SEATTLE MARINERS            TEXAS RANGERS

Ichiro RF                   Dellucci LF
Bloomquist 2B               Young SS
Ibanez LF                   Teixeira 1B
Sexson 1B                   Blalock 3B
Beltre 3B                   Soriano 2B
Reed CF                     Mench RF
Morse SS                    Gonzalez DH
Dobbs DH                    Matthews Jr. CF
Torrealba C                 Barajas C

----------                  ----------

Spiroid (6-13, 5.10)        Dominguez (0-3, 5.11)

Spiroid's got a career 8.76 ERA in Ameriquest Field, with 59 hits allowed in 38 innings. Blalock, Mench, Teixeira, Young...these guys own him, and it's not going to be pretty. Random prediction: the Mariners won't win unless Richie Sexson hits a home run.

LET'S GO MARINERS!

Morse not in the outfield today.
Way to stick to your guns, Grover.

You guys hear what Grover said about Felix?
120 pitches a game. People on U.S.S. are going to kill him.

wept?
I'm looking into gathering a mob.

Told you so... :(
They get the idea that he can pitch over a hundred once and they just keep on pushing until his arm breaks.

Gather the f($#*&g pitch forks.

Hargrove's not very bright
If Felix goes on the DL anytime next season, Hargrove is toast.  GUARANTEED.

Pull him based on the big innings.  If he has to throw 20+ pitches in one or two innings, pull him after 100.  If he's cruising, then yeah, let him go 110-120.

But Mikey's not that smart.

Keeping the ball down:
Not Spiroid's game plan today.

by Jeff Sullivan on Aug 24, 2005 5:27 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

No Kidding
Given everything he's been responsible for the past six or so weeks, with the suspension, the shitty attitude, and pitching performances that are short of being medicore...what's the point in keeping him around?

Then again, with so many heads placed on the chopping block in the past year, perhaps I've just developed a taste for blood.

Ron Fairly
Having trouble apologizing for all of Franklin's mistakes.

He just can't keep up with this level of suckiness.

Nageotte up.
Thank God.

When's the last time you could honestly say that you've seen four of the worst pitchers in baseball all play for the same team in one season?

by Jeff Sullivan on Aug 24, 2005 5:52 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Woohoo!
We get to see some Clintball.

Stopped in and read your blurb
After seeing the 4-0 score.

Big Sexy better hit five home runs.

Bite on a syringe and die, Frankie.

Christ.
Is this the Longest AB in MLB history, or what?

I seriously doubt
that Vlad could shatter the moon with a home run.

by Jeff Sullivan on Aug 24, 2005 6:15 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Mike Morse
Turning him into an outfielder won't make him a good hitter.

I think i'm
just going to avoid watching games that franklin starts.  Nothing ever decent happens.

by Edgar for Pres on Aug 24, 2005 7:23 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't know.
Does it really matter if we give up 6 or 7 or 8 runs with the way we are hitting?  I thought that Texas had really bad pitching? Oh well, I guess I should be use to it.

by Edgar for Pres on Aug 24, 2005 7:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

And this would be
The difference between a third place finisher and a last place finisher.

Talk about making Texas' pitching look good.

Now six games back.
Hello, last place two years running.

Any ideas
On what I should name my blog alias this week?  It's fairly obvious that we're not going to Take Out Texas any time soon...

On another note -- by now you should have the GEICO caveman commercial memorized, at least if you watch FSN.  Doesn't the guy on the right at the end look like Val Kilmer's twin?

Go M's! Take Out Texas! If not then The Lame List should do.

by PositivePaul on Aug 24, 2005 7:55 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Given his lack of recent work
it might actually be Val Kilmer.

by Jeff Sullivan on Aug 24, 2005 7:59 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

So I guess
class was more interesting than this game...

by bluemax on Aug 24, 2005 7:59 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Friday
Felix. Just keep repeating that.
