Boone DFA'd, Snelling, Lopez up

Check out the article on the Mariners site.  Hansen goes on the DL with elbow tendonitis to make room for Snelling.  Thank god this move was finally made, and once again I have a reason to watch this horrible team. Here's to getting a nice prospects for Randy Winn and Eddie G and starting to build for next year.

Did you guys see the press conference?
Boone was very shookup and emotional about it.

Kinda shocked me

Good Luck Bret, thanks for the memories, I hope you end up with a contender.

Re: Did you guys see the press conference?
I hope Bret knows that, as much as we ragged on him this year, we all appreciate the incredible contributions he made to this team over the previous four seasons. It's a shame that he aged as fast as he did, but when you put up perhaps the greatest season by any second baseman in the history of the game at a time when the organization needs it most, I think you can be forgiven when you no longer perform at that level.

Best of luck, Boone. San Diego could use you.

Mixed feelings
Boonie has taken a lot of heat this year, and deservedly so, but it's worth taking the time to remember the good year(s).

For him to have the season he did in 2001 after we lost ARod in the previous offseason was a pretty special thing.

I was never a huge fan of his, and am ready to see him move on, but he was a good Mariner.

As time goes on...
Boone will be remembered for his success here and his disappointments this season will be forgotten.  He will enter the shrine of Mariners past, with the likes of Buhner, Presley, and the crew.

why DFA him
Why did the imbecile Bavasi DFA him? I know he wasn't hitting, but couldn't they trade him to the Pods or Twins or White Sox who need an extra infielder to play twice a week, pinch hit an occasional homer.

He tried
but nobody would take part of his contract.

DFa'ing him puts a deadline on the whole thing and it insures that the M's eat pretty much all of his contract.

It was a smart move, do some research before you call someone an imbecile next time.
