Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Bill Bavasi announced today that left-handed pitcher Jake Woods has been claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  The club has also designated infielder Greg Dobbs for assignment.

Woods, 24, made his Major League debut in 2005 for the Angels.  He was 1-1, 4.55 (14ER/27.2IP) in 28 relief appearances.  He was 3-1, 5.89 (24ER/36.2IP) in 15 games, 5 starts for the Triple-A Salt Lake Stingers.

Dobbs, 27, played in 59 games for the Mariners in 2005, hitting .246 (35x142) with one home run and 20 RBI.  He batted .321 (61x190) with three homers and 22 RBI for Triple-A Tacoma.
